How the transfer works
In Cyprus, the electricity account is not "renamed". When a tenant changes or a customer's name changes, the new customer signs a new Electricity Supply Agreement with EAC Supply and opens a new account in their own name. The previous customer's agreement ends automatically, and EAC issues them a final bill (EAC).
Where there is already an active account at the property, EAC requires the written consent of the existing customer to terminate their agreement.
- 1
Collect the documents listed below.
- 2
Apply online through the EAC Portal (after registering for EAC Supply services), or visit any EAC Supply Customer Service Centre.
- 3
Sign the new Electricity Supply Agreement and pay the transfer fee and, as a tenant, the deposit.
- 4
The previous customer's agreement is terminated and a final bill is issued to them.
Documents for individuals
- Tenancy agreement. An owner moving in uses the title deed or the sales agreement instead.
- ID card, passport or another legally valid identification document.
- Written, signed consent of the previous customer to terminate their agreement for the premises. Note (EAC): if the previous customer cannot be reached, you sign a solemn declaration instead, confirming that you are the new occupant of the premises and that there is no other customer or occupant there.
- A copy of an electricity bill, or the meter number for the premises.
- An official authorisation or power of attorney, if someone else applies for you.
Documents for companies
A company renting premises signs the agreement through a director or an authorised representative. It needs:
- the tenancy agreement;
- the certificate of company registration;
- the certificate of shareholders and directors;
- the company seal or stamp;
- ID of the person signing, with an authorisation certified by a certifying officer if they are not a director;
- the EAC Guarantee Document, signed by a director or shareholder;
- the previous customer's written consent (or a solemn declaration) and the meter number or a copy of a bill.
Fees and deposit
The fee is a regulated Distribution charge. The deposit depends on whether you own the property and on your citizenship (EAC deposit table):
| Domestic customer | Deposit | When it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Tenant — Cypriot or EU citizen | €200 | On signing the agreement |
| Tenant — third-country national | €350 | On signing the agreement |
| Owner — any citizenship | €75 | Charged on the first bill |
Tenant

Owner
- Deposit €75 for all citizenships
- Added to the first electricity bill
- Shows the title deed or sales agreement
