Projects estimated to exceed €12 million are being prepared for the Oroklini municipal district in Larnaca, deputy mayor Neofytos Fakontis told the Cyprus News Agency, as reported by Cyprus Business Now.
What is planned
- Redevelopment of the old neighbourhoods of Voroklini, the village's historic core
- A 1,000-seat open-air amphitheatre in the heart of Oroklini
- A sports centre with a multifunctional space for the community
Funding after the merger with Larnaca
Oroklini joined Larnaca Municipality under the local government reform. According to Fakontis, the merger, with the support of the mayor, the municipal council and the technical services, made it possible to advance the projects, for which the municipality will seek several million euros from European funds.
Coastal works
The approved package also covers breakwaters in Oroklini and Pervolia. In Pervolia, where coastal erosion is more severe, the cost is about twice that of Oroklini. The final phase of the Oroklini coastal footpath is at the tendering stage.
